Follow copyright guidelines in multimedia projects
If you are creating a project that will be published online and you want to use media (images, sounds, etc.) that someone else created then follow fair use:
http://creativecommons.org/
- Be sure you have permission from the creator -- look for public domain media, Creative Commons media and/or purchase legally shareable media. RESEARCH!
- If you are not sure about permission, try to get it or make sure you are only using the work in a TRANSFORMATIVE way - https://www.lib.umn.edu/copyright/fairuse
- Give credit to the creator - where you found the image
- If possible use media (images, video, songs, etc. that have been created under Creative Commons

http://pixabay.com/ Photopin http://photopin.com Wikimedia Commons http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (On this site, you are searching photos and pics where the creator has allowed reuse.) Burning Well http://www.burningwell.org/ (Do not choose any of the "stock" photo options at the bottom of the page - those have to be paid for, they are not part of Creative Commons licenses) Clckr.com http://www.clker.com/ (Site has mostly clip art - scroll past the ads after you search and check the "terms of use" to be sure you can put it in your project.) EduPics http://www.edupic.net/search.htm (Try skimming through the keywords rather than using the search to search for your own term.) Every Stock Photo http://www.everystockphoto.com/ (Some really beautiful photographs - check the license on the right side of the screen.) Free Photo Bank http://www.freephotobank.org/main.php (Do not use the search or you will get to photos that cost money - use the categories to browse for photos.) Free Foto http://www.freefoto.com/index.jsp (You will need to follow their license agreement after finding good photos.) From Old Books http://www.fromoldbooks.org/ (Antique looking pictures and photos from old books - easier to browse with the provided keywords than to tag.) Using Google Image Search the "Copyright" Way
Search for your image key term in Google (I like going directly to http://images.google.com)
Select the "Tool" Gadget in the upper right corner
Go to "Advanced Search" and scroll down to "Usage Rights" - change the rights to "Free to Use or Share"
Then click on the "Advanced Search" button - your results will change and their will be fewer! Use these pictures in your project and be sure to give credit to the site/creator where you found them.
